The ksar of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a fortified mud-brick village on the old caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. It has served as a backdrop for many films.
About thirty kilometres from Ouarzazate, it can be visited as a day trip from Marrakech over the Tizi n’Tichka pass or as a stop on the way to the desert.
